IS JACOB REALLY THE
VILLAIN IN ‘BREAKING DAWN?’
The movie ‘Breaking Dawn’ is a very unique movie
that contain action and romance. The movie is from novel adaptation which is
written by famous writer, Stephanie Meyer. This movie has an interesting plot
because it tells about the life of a group of vampires and werewolves. One of
the best characters is Jacob Black. He is one of the Black Pack members. But is
Jacob really the villain in Breaking Dawn? Jacob may have betrayed his pack but he has
shown heroic characteristics by his sacrifice and responsible act.
Jacob betrayal towards his clan make us see him as the
villain in this movie; yet his compassionate
behavior is not villain-quality. But there is a reason for him doing so. Jacob was
protecting Bella from his own clan who tried to kill her. He made the members
of his clan angry when he took Bella’s side. He
is not doing it just for love, he also understands Bella’s choice to have her
baby. Initially, he agreed to kill the baby for his clan, but he could not do
it when he saw the baby. Jacob’s shows his compassion by caring for Bella and betrayed his clan in
the process.
Jacob’s sacrifice is
not only shown when he quit his clan and
gave up his love for Bella to Edward.
When his clan insisted that Bella and her baby were
to be killed. The clan was convinced that Bella’s baby will a monster and
endanger Jacob’s clan. Jacob disagreed with them and he therefore quit his clan.
Jacob’s never ending love for Bella made him do
anything for her. He not only took care of Bella and protect her from his clan,
he even helped Edward to take care of Bella when Bella needed help.
Jacob sacrifice his family and love –and that is not villain characteristic.
Jacob showed his responsible character by taking care of Bella and helping
the Cullen’s family. Jacob cared for Bella
the moment he knew Bella’s health was deteriorating due to the pregnancy. He
chose to take care of Bella even though Bella was already married to Edward.Jacob also helped the Cullen family to protect Bella from
danger. He ignored his hatred for the vampires and went all out to help the
Cullen family. Thus, Jacob joined the responsibility of saving Bella
from danger as well as helping the Cullen family.
So, is Jacob really a villain in ‘Breaking Dawn?’ His betrayal
towards his clan so he could sacrifice for Bella, and take responsibility over
her health. Jacob also felt he was responsible to protect the Cullen’s family
from his clan. Jacob was seen as a villain because he was Edward’s rival to win
Bella’s heart initially. But when he lost Bella to Edward, his undying love for
Bella was seen by the way he cared for her. Just because Edward is the hero in
the movie, that does not make Jacob a villain.
