The shape of the triangle shows the way the ideas will be
developed. Begin with a broad discussion of the topic. You could begin
discussing the theme of your essay, then link to the topic. Then narrow the
topic and end with the thesis statement of the essay (1,2,3,).
Why is the bottom pointed?
The last sentence in the Introduction must give the
reader the feeling “afterwards the essay will be about this…”
The
last sentence tells the audience: Afterwards the WHOLE essay will be about
this. It is encouraged to list the THREE MAIN IDEAS that will appear in the
next developmental paragraphs....
