MOVIES AND ACADEMIC ESSAYS Sample of Student's Essay Movie "Brave" SAMPLE 2
The Effect of Selfishness
in ‘Brave’.
THE ESSAY
Animated movies have become
a favourite for many these days because watching them helps to release tension.
Some examples of famous animated movies are Tangled, Cinderella and Sleeping
Beauty. The latest one is Brave. Here are some of the effects of selfishness
that can be found in the movie which are has created conflict and has caused
fights.
Firstly,
the act of selfishness has created conflict between
father and daughter as well as between mother
and daughter. The conflict between father
and daughter can be shown between Merida and her father who argues about her
mother. Merida told her father that her mother, Queen Elinor has been cursed
and turned into a bear but her father did not believe her so he wanted to kill
the bear.Moreover, conflict also happened
between mother and daughter where Queen Elinor wanted Merida to be a real
princess but she did not listen to her mother. Thus, in this movie,
selfishness has created conflict between father and daughter as well as between
mother and daughter.
Secondly,
being selfish caused the fight that happened between the three kingdoms and among siblings.
The fight between was created because Merida did
not want to choose whose son she wanted to marry. Instead, she volunteered as a
representative for her kingdom in the archery challenge. Besides that, the fight among the siblings is shown in the
scene where the eldest prince wanted to rule the land on his own and that is
the cause of their fights. Hence, being selfish can make rulers of three
kingdoms to fight and siblings to go against one another.
In
conclusion, causing fights and creating conflicts are the effects of
selfishness. One should think before doing something that will fuel people’s
anger. Other than that, one selfish act could ruin an entire kingdom. A leader
must be fair in ruling his or her kingdom to maintain harmony. Furthermore, one
should be rational and wise in making decisions. However, both sides also need
to be considerate and come to an agreement. Thus, one should throw away their
selfishness and be tolerant towards others.

MOVIES AND ACADEMIC ESSAYS Sample of Student's Essay Movie "Brave" SAMPLE 1
WHAT ARE THE EFFECTS OF SELFISHNESS IN THE MOVIE ‘BRAVE’?
THE
ESSAY
‘Brave’ movie is about a girl name Merida who comes from
royal family and from a clan called Dunbroch. Merida disagreed with her mother’s
decision to ask her to marry so she ran away into the wood. She found a witch
and asked the witch to make a spell to change her mother. The spell changed her mother into a bear. Merida felt sad and she learnt her lesson. The
effects of selfishness in the movie ‘Brave’ are conflict and fight.
The first effect of selfishness in the movie ‘Brave’ is
conflict between Merida and Elinor and between Merida and Fergus. In the
movie, Merida and Elinor argue about marriage. Merida refused to marry one of
the three princes but her mother forced her. Merida also does not listen to her
mother as she wants her freedom in her life. She is not ready for the marriage
and she swears that the marriage will not happen.. In addition to that, Merida and Fergus also argued when
Fergus tried to kill his own wife but Merida stopped him. Fergus also shouted
at Merida and accused her of talking nonsense. Fergus locked Merida in the
room and he then searched for the bear to revenge Elinor‘s death. So,
selfishness brings conflict in the family as Merida fight with Elinor and
Fergus.
The second effect of selfishness in the movie ‘Brave” is
the fight in the kingdom and between sibling. In the kingdom,
three clans fight with each other to in the a competition to marry the
princess, Merida and so that they can be the next king in the kingdom. Besides that, from the legend, the older prince among the four
princes wanted to rule the kingdom by himself. His pride and selfishness
transformed him into an evil bear and ruined his kingdom. So, the
characteristic of selfishness may destroy the kingdom and relationship between
siblings.
The movie ‘Brave’ has shown that
selfishness brings about conflict and fight in the clans. The quarrel between
Merida and her mother Elinor, becomes worse when Merida breaks the tradition of
the clan. In addition to that, the argument does not lead to positive effect. Next, the disagreement causes Merida and
Elinor to quarrel about their different opinion all the time. They need to
learn to communicate so that they can understand each other. In summary,
selfishness does not bring advantages to people. So, the movie 'Brave' is not only an enjoyable movie to watch but also brings some lessons to the viewers.
